Dear Families,
Welcome to the
2008/2009 School Year! We hope you all had a relaxing and enjoyable
summer (with not too much trouble completing those math packets and
summer reading!)
I’d like to
take this opportunity to explain the function of the St Agnes Home
and School Association (HSA). The HSA is a group of dedicated St
Agnes family and faculty members that volunteer their time, talents
and energy for a variety of activities which benefit the school and
ultimately the students. Our primary function is to host
fundraisers throughout the school year. In addition, we sponsor
events that promote our school in the community and we strive to
foster school spirit for the students and faculty. We have always
been very successful in all of our events in the past. This could
not be done with out the hard work of our many volunteers.
As in past
years, the School Board has instituted a program that requires each
family to support the school by giving 20 hours of volunteer
service time (10 hours for approved single parent). If you
cannot meet the hourly requirement set for your family, you will be
charged $10 per hour not worked. The details of this volunteer
program are outlined in our School Handbook. Please read it
carefully.
The school
provides you with many choices for the volunteer activities, some as
simple as grocery shopping. Included in the packet is a listing of
all of the activities sponsored by the HSA along with a brief
description and a chairperson contact. There will also be a
Volunteer Meeting on Tuesday, August 26, 2008 at 7:00 in the
cafeteria. We encourage you to attend and ask questions you may
have about any activity we sponsor.
Please review
the attached list and mark the activities for which you would like
to volunteer. Please return this completed form to the school
office attention Christie Kearney c/o Annie Grade 3 by Friday
September 5th.
Thank you,
Christie
